Terms of use

1. Who provides the service

The service is provided by SecureChat (“we”). Contact: soporte@securechat-app.com.

2. What SecureChat is

An end-to-end encrypted messaging service between individuals (“customers”) and verified businesses. Conversations can only be started by a business through an invitation. There are no conversations between customers.

3. Use by customers

• The app is free for customers.
• Invitations are personal and single-use: don’t share them. Whoever redeems an invitation joins that conversation.
• Your history is tied to your device. If you lose it or change phones, ask the business for a new invitation to recover the conversation.
• You can close conversations and delete your account whenever you want from the app.

4. Use by businesses

• The business must pass our verification and keep its information truthful. We may reject, suspend or withdraw verification if we detect false information, abuse or a breach of these terms.
• The business must only send invitations through a channel where it is already talking to that person (for example, its WhatsApp chat). It must not publish them in mass emails, on social media or in public QR codes: the invitation is a credential.
• The business is responsible for safekeeping its private key. If it loses it, it loses access to its conversations; we cannot recover it.
• The business is an independent controller of the data it receives from its customers and is responsible for complying with applicable law, including data protection law, and for acting on the account deletion notices we send it.
• The business keeps its API keys and webhook secrets confidential and is responsible for any use made of them.

5. Acceptable use

SecureChat may not be used for spam, fraud, impersonation, harassment or illegal content, or to attempt unauthorized access to other people’s systems or data. If we receive a credible report, we may suspend the business involved. We cannot moderate message content because we cannot read it.

6. Security and limits

We explain in detail what encryption protects and what it doesn’t in Security. In particular, encryption ends at the business’s systems, and the current version of the protocol does not offer forward secrecy.

7. Availability

We make reasonable efforts to keep the service running continuously, but it is provided “as is”, without any guarantee of uninterrupted availability, to the extent permitted by law.

8. Price

The service is currently free for businesses too. If we introduce paid plans in the future, we will give advance notice and they will not apply without the business’s express acceptance.

9. Privacy

Data processing is described in the privacy policy.

10. Changes

If we make significant changes to these terms, we will announce them in the app or the portal before they take effect.
